How to use it
- 1Paste your text
Paste a title, caption or description, emojis and hashtags included.
- 2Check each platform
Each bar shows how much of the platform’s limit you are using, and turns red if you go over.
- 3Tighten the first line
Check the preview: the first line is what most viewers see before tapping “more”.
Why the first line matters most
Every platform truncates captions in the feed. Whatever sits in the first line, roughly the first 125 characters, is what decides whether someone taps to read more. Lead with the hook or the payoff, not hashtags or a greeting.
Emoji and special characters
This checker counts each field the way the platform does: TikTok in UTF-16 units (most emoji count as two), YouTube titles in characters and YouTube descriptions in bytes. Instagram is counted in characters, so leave a little headroom if you are right at its limit.
FAQ
What is the YouTube Shorts title limit?
100 characters. Shorter is better: titles over about 40 characters are often cut off on mobile.
What is the TikTok caption limit?
2,200 characters for a video caption, per TikTok’s Content Posting API (emoji outside the basic set count as two). Photo-post descriptions allow 4,000. The app itself may let you type more, so 2,200 is the safe target.
What is the Instagram Reels caption limit?
2,200 characters, with a maximum of five hashtags per post.
